Cage Veteren Woody White (SDCS Bmth) stepped in next in an MMA bout against Arunus Andrius (Lithuania).
Andrius had appeared before on Adrenaline under Thai rules, taking out Colin MaCintyre so you had to believe that he would want to keep this stood up against a renouned ground fighter like White.
Both men opened up with an exchange before White moved in to clich and work from close range. Finally after a period of knee exchanges they went to ground where White got position. Andrius delivered an illigal elbow and they were stood up by referee Mark Woodard who deducted a point.
Straight back to work and White had Andrius in a leg lock followed by a session of ground and pound. The first round was clear for the Bournemouth fighter, and even clearer with the point deduction.
White came out for the second full of confidence and soon he was back on the floor in the dominant side mount position working effectively. A key lock attempt slipped free but White passed guard and things looked dangerous for Andrius. The Lithuanian slipped out of the ground and pound but White secured the side mount again. More movement and Andrius managed to get Whites back unleashing a furious bout of ground and pound.
A horrible cut opened up on Whites eye and the action was stopped for the doctor to inspect. He was allowed to continue and seeing his chance Andrius went straight for the cut. The bell went to save White but he had still taken the round despite the injury.
Out for the final round and although they went into a clinch Andrius desperately looked to strike at every opportunity. White looked to cover his injury with a tight guard and following another trade off, it looked as though a second, much bigger cut had opened above his right eye.
The contest was stopped in favour of Andrius, who was a little fortunate to get the break. However, that's the game and each fighter must take his opportunity when it presents itself.
